Anais of the Protector’s Path is pretty much done. Once again, Amber did a fantastic job editing. The cover art is finished, and I’m more than happy with it. I am giving one more person (my dear sister-in-law) a chance to provide any very last minute input. But that is it. I will post it on Amazon on Wednesday (no matter what). I am so excited. I’m grinning from ear to ear.
After much consideration, I have decided to go with Kindle Select for the first three months. I had misgivings due to some issues with the Kindle Unlimited program. I was concerned with some manipulation of the system by people who had created borrowing circles that artificially gave certain very poorly assembled books higher rankings. I *think* Amazon has cleaned up this problem, and in a very timely manner. At least the one author I was most concerned with seems to have been removed. I realize that Amazon didn’t do this for me, as I am just one of many self publishing authors. But I think we all take this sort of thing seriously as we consider how to distribute our books. After my three months of exclusivity with Amazon are up, I will use Smashwords to distribute to Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, etc. Most of my sales come from Amazon, which is why I am willing to give them exclusivity. I think the reason I do better on Amazon is because Amazon does a very good job of allowing unknown writers to be *findable* through their many subcategories. The other sales channels will get there, I am sure. They just aren’t doing a good job of it yet. At least, not for me.
